This was our first time going to the city of Zacatecas. And I think it is safe to say it has taken the place as one of our favorite cities in the country. It is not just the fact that the city is beautiful, with outstanding scenic views, gigantic towering cathedrals, mask museums, and more (just some of what we saw) but also, the people were some of the most welcoming we have ever come across. This made us feel at home, even though we were quite a ways away from it in actuality.
Pili is from Zacatecas, and Alex is from Monterrey and we first met them over a skype conversation (something that is actually quite fun to do) and we started to learn about their wedding and them as people. These are two of the most easy-going and genuinely likeable people we have ever met. When you talk to either Pili or Alex, within seconds you feel like you have known them your whole life. And they have a lot in common with each other too. They both love to sing, they both are teachers, they both work at the same university, and they both see God at the center of their relationship.
Their wedding took place over two days. Day one of their wedding was tons of fun. It was packed with family and friends for the civil ceremony at Pili’s house. And then that evening, we walked through the downtown streets of Zacatecas for the callejoneada, and that was an unforgettable experience.
As for day two, you’ll have to stay tuned! We’ll let you know how they fell in love and started their journey together as husband and wife.
